Terry Wayne Brown
1946 ~ 2023

On Monday, November 13, 2023 at the age of 77, Terry Wayne Brown of La Salle, MB formerly of Lowe Farm, passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Terry is survived by his wife Ricki, daughters, Jenny (Luis) and Shelly (Todd), grandchildren: Emma and Matthew. Terry was predeceased by his parents, Tillie and Peter.

Terry was born on September 6, 1946. As a child he attended school in Rose Farm and Kane. He made the decision to work on his parent's farm rather than continue in school. Terry worked at Eaton’s downtown Winnipeg, then with Paul Braun Construction in Red Lake and on the Winnipeg Floodway. In 1965 he worked for Transair and then later for General Aviation at Winnipeg International Airport, during this time he obtained his pilot’s license. During these years he continued to help his parents with their farm.

While working at the airport, Terry met Ricki and they married in 1971. After the birth of Jenny and Shelly, they decided to leave Winnipeg and purchased the former Frank Groening farm SW28-4-2W southwest of Lowe Farm, MB. A small mixed farm for a few years, then strictly grain and oilseeds were grown on the acreage.

After retiring from the farm in 2009, Terry and Ricki built a home in La Salle, MB to be closer to their grandchildren.  Over the last sixteen years Terry's favourite hobby was spending time with his grandtwins, whom he adored, attending Matthew's hockey and Emma's dance, exploring the countryside and enjoying many field trips with the twins. Emma will fondly remember sitting on the deck and listening to Grandpa telling her his airport/pilot stories. A favourite memory of Matthew was playing ‘ball in the hall’ with Grandpa and that Grandpa never took it easy on him.

A special thank you to Cancer Care Manitoba, Boundary Trails Health Centre and Carman Memorial Hospital for their care and support during his cancer journey.

At Terry's request, no service will be held. If you wish, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba in Terry's memory.
