Sarah Buhler (nee Janzen)
1925 ~ 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Sarah Buhler announces her passing on Monday November 7, 2022 at the age of 97.

Sarah is lovingly remembered by her five children, Verna (Ed) Hoeppner, Rosella (Ed) Dueck, Leonard (Debbie) Buhler, Sharon (Neil) Klippenstein, Christine (Tony) Penner. Sarah will also be fondly remembered by her 21 grandchildren, 14 with spouses, 44 great grandchildren and also one sister, Mary, and one brother, Chuck (Linda), three sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband, Isaac, her parents and seven brothers.

Sarah was born August 19, 1925, to parents, Jacob and Sara Janzen. She grew up in Rosengart with eight brothers and one younger sister. Being the oldest daughter, Sarah helped with the many household chores and the sewing. She attended the Rosengart elementary school, as well as the community Sunday School, choir practices and Jugendverein (youth meetings). In school she joined the 4-H club, where she became a leader of the sewing club. Their family attended the Reinland EMM church where she took catechism classes and was baptized upon confession of her faith June 1, 1946. Sarah married Isaac in October 1949. They lived in Haskett for the next 35 years and became involved in the community. They joined the Blumenorter Church when they married and transferred to the Bethel Bergthaler Mennonite Church in 1964, where they were very active for many years. In November 1984, they moved to Winkler and lived there for 25 years. Isaac was diagnosed with cancer and went to be with the Lord July 1, 2009. At this time Sarah moved to a Sun Vista condo. Through these years, Sarah received much joy in being hospitable; sharing her good cooking with family, friends and care group. She also sewed many receiving blankets for grandchildren, great grandchildren and church baby showers. The grandchildren received hand quilted baby blankets as well. She also sewed many gifts along the way, like tote bags, pillows, potholders and many more. Sarah spent six months in Swan Lake Hospital before moving to Salem Personal Care Home on May 29, 2021. She made many new friends along the way. She felt very loved by the residents of Salem and all her caregivers. She was a huge encourager to everyone around her. Sarah was a prayer warrior for her family, praying for each one by name every morning. She loved the Lord and took much comfort in Matthew 28:20 “And behold I am with you always to the end of the age”, remembering this in the difficult and also the lonely moments in life. She also spoke of this verse in her last days. Sarah will be sadly missed by everyone here on earth. She left us with a huge example of caring and loving others. She eagerly anticipated passing through the pearly gates to meet Jesus face to face.

Sarah’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Salem for the excellent care they provided until the end.
