Michael David Harder

December 28, 1969 to July 27, 2022

Mike was born in the wee hours of the morning in Winnipeg, MB. He was a happy child, always smiling, giggling and teasing, seldom complaining (except at bedtime). At the age of 10, he had a terrible bout of the flu and double pneumonia, and the aftereffects would plague him for the rest of his life. He remained on meds all the time, but still tried to live a normal life. Breathing tests, heart and lung tests, stress tests were done, for which more meds were applied as the doctors saw fit.  Now in later life, those meds began to take a toll on his body, especially the lungs. One lung was almost completely collapsed and the healthier one began to take over the extra space this created. He was recommended for a lung transplant, but first had to gain back some weight so his body would be more fit. This was basically impossible because the esophagus was being cut off by the good lung as it moved over, and he chose breathing over eating most of the time. For the last several years he was a long-distance truck driver until he was too weak to shift the gears. As a result he could not continue to work. He attended many family gatherings, and it was noted that he was not a man of many words but did have many pleasant conversations with those in attendance. His response when asked how he was doing was usually "Pretty good" or "Not bad". He rarely complained to anyone.

Mike left us way too soon. He passed in the wee hours of July 27, 2022 at the age of 52 years and seven months. He will be greatly missed by two daughters, Elizabeth (Alister) and Ashley, one son, Sean (Lora, Mimi and Jeremiah), his mother, Alice Harder-Holenski (Robert), brother, Clint (Val) Harder, niece, Kara, and their respective families. He was predeceased by his father, Larry Harder, grandparents, Ed and Mary Penner and William and Elizabeth Harder.

Many thanks to Pastor Hugh Morrow, Wiebe Funeral Home, family and friends for supporting us in the celebration of Mike's life.
