Mark Lyndon John Hamm

1974 – 2021

Mark passed away peacefully on Sunday October 31, 2021.

Mark was the loving and devoted husband and best friend of Anne. Mark was the beautiful son of Harold and Helen Hamm and sweet brother to Liane (Trevor Wiebe). He is lovingly remembered by his niece, Elicia (Matt Young) and nephews, Logan, Hayden and Keaton. Mark was a well-loved man; he loved Jesus, his friends, his players, his teammates, his church, and his family.

Mark was born April 6, 1974 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In the spring of 1975, the family moved to The Pas. He grew up in a community of diverse cultures. He never saw differences, he only saw people. After school, he would bike a half mile out of town to go fishing with his buddies. He also spent many hours with his dad on the bread truck. He enjoyed playing baseball for his dad's team, where he suffered his first of 12 broken noses. In 1985, the family moved to Winkler. It was difficult for Mark to make friends as an outsider at school until he found Basketball. Mark loved to play and he was really good at it. He was quite agile for a big man. He was a fierce competitor, physically aggressive and determined to win. He had an uncanny way of making his opponent fear him yet laugh and want to be his friend. Coach John Klassen helped shape Mark into the man and coach that he wanted to be. The impact that Coach K had on Mark has become his legacy. Mark married the love of his life, Anne, on August 14, 2015. Mark knew he would marry Anne from the moment he met her. It just took awhile before Anne knew it too. Their wedding day was the happiest day of his life. Mark was excited to be baptized by his friend Rob Haslam in July of 2017.

Mark will be missed by his family and many, many friends.
