Anna Klassen (nee Klassen)

1921 - 2020

On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, Anna Klassen went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Mom was born on April 18, 1921 in Chortitz, MB. Mom and Dad got married on July 6th, 1941 and lived in Blumenfeld on a small farm until 1962 when they moved to Winnipeg. They returned back to Winkler in their retirement years enjoying family, friends and fellowship at the Christian Faith Church. Anna was a hard worker and provider for her eight children and husband. She endured much hardship and adversity through the years but never lost her love of life, laughter, gospel music, good books and the BIBLE. Wherever she went, people were touched by her kindness, her gentle spirit and her unwavering compassion for the fallen and broken hearted. With eight children to care for in difficult times, she had an amazing ability to cook meals from very little. She would not eat until all the children had enjoyed a delicious meal and she knew they all had enough to eat. A woman of faith and intercessory prayer who always acted selflessly as a real-life example of a Godly woman as described in Proverbs 31. We can say with gratitude, “well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord”.

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Bernhard, her daughter, Anne Truscott and son-in-law, Leigh, sons, Peter and Henry, son-in-law, Murray Pontifex and 13 brothers and sisters. She leaves to mourn her daughters, Mary Fehr (Henry) and Shirley Penner (George), her sons, Barney, John (Susan), David (Greta) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

Special thanks to the nurses, caregivers, doctors, and staff of Salem Home. Thank you for lovingly attending to her and caring for her all these years.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a public celebration of Anna’s life will be held at a future time pending the lifting of COVID 19 restrictions.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna’s memory to the Salem Home Foundation Inc.
