Laraine Ducharme (nee Hogarth)

1954 - 2019

After a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday August 14, 2019, with her favorite song playing, Laraine Ducharme passed away surrounded by friends and family at the Boundary Trails Health Centre.

Laraine was born on May 16, 1954 in England. After a long journey by boat, across the Atlantic Ocean, she arrived in Canada, settling eventually in Portage La Prairie, MB. After several moves, Laraine settled in Manitou, MB where she raised her children. Over the years, Laraine held several jobs but no matter what job she had, she had a great ability to put a smile on anyone’s face and genuinely cared about each person she encountered. She was known for believing in children while being an educational assistant, the best iced coffee maker in Manitou when working at CJ’s, and one of the friendliest volunteer’s at ALH Motor Speedway.

She is survived by her three children, Cassandra (Cory), Quinton, Cordell (Selena), grandson, Xavier and her brother, Keith (Sheri). She was predeceased by her parents, Theresa and Derrick.

Laraine had a love for sitting around bonfires and also loved the racetrack. The family has decided to combine these two passions to celebrate her life in a casual setting that evening (Wednesday) at 7:00 p.m. at ALH Motor Speedway (3 miles west of Morden). An evening of sitting around a bonfire, reminiscing and sharing memories while enjoying each other’s company is just what she would have wanted.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Pembina Valley Humane Society or to South Central Cancer Resource.
