Our Mom, Helena Kauenhofen (nee Peters), was born on January 21, 1940 to George and Elizabeth Peters.  She grew up in Mexico and was an only child.  On June 9, 1957 she was baptized by Bishop Jacob Doerksen in Mexico.  In July of 1957 she married Abram Friesen.  They were married for 21 years.  In August 1978 Abram Friesen passed away.  She was a widow for 16 years when she married Cornelius Kauenhofen in 1994.  Cornelius passed away in July 2015 leaving her as a widow again. Last year on, December 16, Mom got sick and was admitted to the hospital.  She remained there until January 3rd when she was well enough to be discharged.  She was living at her daughters place for 3 days when she started feeling sick again.  They brought her back to the hospital on January 6th where she spent the next 26 days.  She fought hard and became well enough to go home. She was at home for 2 weeks.  On February 14, they brought her back to the hospital again where she remained until the good Lord came to take her home on March 6th, 2019 at 6:45 am. Mom was 79 years old, 1 month and 13 days.
We as a family would like to thank all those who have prayed for Mom and our family, made phone calls, or has helped in any way, big or small.  We would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Boundary Trails Health Centre, Wiebe Funeral Home, our minister, Cornie Klassen, and his family, our song leaders, our ushers, serving group, caretakers of our church and everyone who took the time to come and say your final farewell.  One of Mom’s final words “Now go be with God”.
