Stanley Bonnell Allen

1932 – 2019

On Friday, January 11, 2019 Stanley Allen passed away peacefully at Salem Home in Winkler, MB.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Agatha, three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and their families. He was predeceased by his parents.

Stanley Bonnell Allen was born on April 3, 1932 in Allenville, NS. He grew up as an only child with his mother since his father had died in a fishing accident before Stanley was born. It was in Allenville where he attended school and Sunday School. They lived right off the seashore. Stanley met Agatha Rempel in 1983. They got married on August 27, 1983 in the Parrsboro United Baptist Church in Nova Scotia. Stanley’s job was hauling logs to the sawmill but when the sawmills closed, his workplace no longer existed. Stanley’s mother passed away in April of 1983. Since there were no close family left, they decided to move to Winkler to be close to Agatha’s family. On June 10, 1984 he was baptized by Rev. Peter Penner and accepted as a member into the Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church. Stanley liked to drive truck. He worked for farmers hauling potatoes and beets. His interests included putting model cars together. He could also be found tinkering on real cars. Using parts from several non-running cars to get one car running and driving it with pride. He was friendly and kind and always greeted people with a smile. As his health started to deteriorate, he longed to go back home to Nova Scotia. Now the Lord has taken him home to where there is no more suffering or longing.

Memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 16, 2019 at the Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church with interment prior at the Rosenbach Cemetery. Donations may be made to assist the family with expenses. Thank you to the doctors and medical staff at BTHC for their excellent care and the staff at Salem Home as well for their care during Stan's short stay.
