Anna Krahn (nee Wiebe)

1947 – 2018

It has been the will of the Heavenly Father to take to her eternal home, our mother and grandmother on Saturday December 1, 2018.

Mom was born to her parents, Julius and Helena (nee Bueckert) Wiebe on May 18, 1947 in Mexico. At the age of ten, she along with her parents and siblings moved from Mexico to Belize. She had a love for music and taught herself to play both the accordion and the harmonica! Mom was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ on July 3, 1966 in Belize. On July 30, 1966 she entered into marriage with Wilhelm Krahn with whom she shared the joys and sorrows of marriage for 26 years, six months and ten days. In their marriage, they were blessed with four sons and four daughters. She lived in widowhood for 25 years, nine months and 22 days. In June of 1972, our parents moved from Belize to Manitoba, Canada where they resided in Plum Coulee. We remember fondly the many things mom did for us. She spent many an evening playing outside with us after we helped her get her work done inside. Mom built small furniture for us. She taught her daughters to sew and helped us to sew our wedding dresses! Mom wasn’t afraid to take on hard work, often taking on a whole field of beets which we all hoed together. This would take several weeks to complete; this taught us perseverance. Life changed when dad became ill and died of cancer of February 9, 1993. After dad’s passing, mom moved to Winkler. For some time, she worked at Southern Potatoes. She was a hard worker and in fairly good health, but over time developed thyroid problems. Later, she suffered greatly from hemorrhoids. In the spring of this year, she was able to have surgery to remove them and this surgery seemed to be successful. Then in June 2018, she was diagnosed with colon cancer, which was not operable. Soon after, she was moved to Morris Hospital waiting for a room at Salem Home. She moved to Salem on October 4 but her health deteriorated quickly. On November 27, mom was taken to Boundary Trails Health Centre and only four days later, she passed away peacefully but sooner than we expected!

She reached the age of 71 years, six months and 13 days. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilhelm, her parents and three sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing four sons, four daughters and their spouses, 30 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, five brothers and four sisters.

We will miss mom yet we sorrow not as those who have no hope, but we rejoice in knowing that she sought forgiveness for her sins and had peace in her heart. Through the mercy and grace of her Lord and Saviour she has now gone to her rest.

We would like to express our sincere thank you to the staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre, at Morris Hospital and the staff at Salem Home. Thank you to all who have sent food, flowers and encouragement. Thank you to Wiebe Funeral Home and everyone who has helped with the funeral. Thank you for all your prayers!
