Peter Berg

1935 – 2018

On Wednesday April 4, 2018 after a lengthy illness, Peter Berg passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning.

Peter was born to William and Aganetha Berg on September 5, 1935, the third oldest in a family of eight. At 1 ½ years, he suffered from polio. Peter married Nettie (Giesbrecht) on May 28, 1961 and had three sons, Kim, Brad and Jeff. Peter started work for the Manitoba Telephone System at an early age and worked there for 35 years and retired in 1990. Peter suffered from post-polio syndrome for many years and the last ten years from dementia. Peter and Nettie enjoyed many camping trips for over 40 years. He enjoyed working in his workshop on many projects, as well as spending time with his boys on vehicles. They sold their family home of 50 years in 2016. They moved to Oak West and have enjoyed their last two years there.

Peter is survived by his wife, Nettie as well as his sons, Kim (Heather) and their family, Steven (Kaiti), Jessie (Louie), William, Taylor, Brad (Tracy) and their family, Desare, Vanessa, Jeff (Cathy) and their family, Austin, Tanner, Sara as well as four sisters, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law and their families and from Nettie’s family, three sisters, one sister in-law, one brother-in-law and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Aganetha, one brother, two sisters, one brother-in-law, one nephew and his wife.

Peter will be greatly missed for he left a big hole in the family unit. His wishes were granted Wednesday morning to die at home and left for his heavenly home where there will be no more pain. The family would like to thank each one of you for your thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to the Berg family.
I started my career at MTS on a line crew with Pete, then worked with him on the digger truck in Morden. I enjoyed every minute of it! He always greeted everyone with his great big smile!
You will be missed!
