 Andrej Tabler

1969 ~ 2018

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrej Tabler, age 48, at the Boundary Trails Health Centre on Monday, February 26, 2018. Andrej passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

Andrej was the youngest child to Anna (Sholud) and Vitaly Tabler. He was raised in the small village of Arikbalik in Kazakhstan along side his brother Walter. As a child he always enjoyed spending his time outdoors with his friends and competing in different sports. As he grew older he went to school to become a phys-ed teacher and taught for a few months before he was recruited to the Soviet Army. After spending two years in the army he returned to school to continue his education, at which time he met his wife, Anna Töws. A short while after Andrej married Anna they moved to Germany. A few months after arriving in Germany, at the age of 24, his first son, Edward was born. To support his growing family, Andrej got a job at a manufacturing company in Meinerzhagen. His second son, Elmar was born three years later. Andrej’s love for sports was passed on to his sons, as he kept them busy playing handball at a young age and was always there to support and encourage his sons. On March 8, 2005, Andrej brought his family to Canada and along with his sons, fell in love with hockey. Andrej was always a hard worker, taking every chance he got to work extra hours to be able to afford to send his kids to hockey camps across the country and give them whatever they needed. In 2016, Andrej got his professional licenses and started driving Semi truck for Bartel. It wasn’t long before he decided he wanted to buy his own truck, so that’s what he did in early 2017. Around the same time Andrej started having some medical issues and on April 7, 2017 he was told he had cancer. He fought bravely for 10 months with his wife Anna doing everything she could to help him.

Andrej was predeceased by his father, Vitaly. He leaves to mourn his wife Anna, his two sons, Edward and Elmar, his mother, Anna, his brother, Walter and his family.

Memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 1, 2018 at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden with interment prior at Hillside Cemetery.
