LAWRENCE ELMER HENDERSON

1950 – 2013 

HendersonLawrence_1Peacefully with his loving family by his side Lawrence passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, January 20, 2013.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Judy (nee Rudd), three sons, Eddie of St. Leon, Chris and Amy (Haylee, Laycee) of Morden, Kevin and Darla (Parker, Garrett) of Thornhill, special sister-in-law  Edna Henderson and special nephew Kenny and Lisa (Carlee, Ashley) of Manitou, step daughters, Gillian and Kevin Hanson (Emily, Kallie), Joanna and Tim Swynar, Kristen Maddison, Arleigh Maddison, one sister, three brothers, numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Florette Henderson (nee Labossiere) in 1999 and one son at infancy in 1978, his parents Clarence and Elizabeth Henderson, two sisters, two brothers, one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law.

Lawrence was born at Altamont, MB on May 7, 1950.  He was a loving and supportive husband and a devoted father.  He farmed alongside his brother Bob on the family farm for many years until 1986, when he started a new venture, buying his first shale truck which he drove for twelve years and eventually become an equipment operator for the RM of Pembina till 2002.  With an early retirement, he committed himself to his family and friends and later in 2005 his new wife, Judy and her family.  Throughout the past years he took up new hobbies, travelling with family and friends and the purchase of his `67 Plymouth VIP.  He enjoyed many car shows with the local car club.

Papa loved spending time with his grandchildren, and will be sadly missed by all.  He was a dedicated husband, father, Papa, uncle, friend and always put everyone’s needs ahead of his own.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Funeral service was held at the St. Andrew`s United Church in Manitou at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25th, 2013.  Reverend’s Laurie and Bev Simpson officiated.  Pallbearers were Jason Labossiere, Darrell Farley, Kenny Henderson, Todd Collins, David Frisch and Darryl Howarth.  Ushers were Greg Atkins, Eric Griffin and Don Stewart.  Interment followed at New Haven Cemetery.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our families and friends for all the food, flowers, cards, and phone calls at the time of Lawrence’s passing.  Also a special thanks to the Lea Family, the choir and the organist who assisted at the funeral.  Thanks also to Reverend’s Laurie and Bev Simpson, who officiated at the service. The lunch provided by the Manitou UCW was very much appreciated.  Special thanks as well to all the doctors and medical staff who provided care for Lawrence over the years.
