Abraham Richard Fehr

1949 - 2017

With great sadness we announce that Abe R. Fehr, age 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Morden, MB on Thursday October 19, 2017 after a short battle with lung cancer.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 46 years, Janie Fehr (nee Dueck) and his three children; Scott and Marlene Fehr (Natalia, Megan, Madelyn), Lori and Brian Fransen (Alexandria, Jayda, Vaughn) and Darren and Kristina Fehr (Reese, Raina).  He left behind seven granddaughters and one grandson to whom he was the best Papa ever.  He is also survived by four brothers and three sisters.

He was born on March 13, 1949 in Morden, MB. to William and Elizabeth Fehr (nee Fehr). When he was a young man, Abe had a passion for digging holes and moving dirt which led him to running a small excavating company.  Upon the passing of his father, he stepped up to help run Fehr Glass & Aluminum with his brothers, Victor and Robert and his friend, John Worms.  Abe finally, reluctantly, agreed to retire at the age of 67.

Abe was involved with the church, being baptized in 1978, as well as the community by serving on the Credit Union board, serving as a leader in Boys Brigade as well as a coach for minor baseball.  Abe had a very calm, quiet demeanor and rarely had anything negative to say.  He was passionate about his grandchildren and spending time outdoors, whether it was working in the yard or hunting and fishing with the people he loved most.

Memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Alliance Church in Morden with interment at Hillside Cemetery.  If friends so desire, donations may be made in Abe’s memory to BTHC Foundation and designated to either the Cancer Care Program or Palliative Care Program.
