John Derksen

1947 – 2017

 

Peacefully with family by his side, John H Derksen entered into eternal rest on Monday February 27, 2017. Hi s wish was to fall asleep and wake up in heaven and that wish was fulfilled at 6:40 p.m.

He was born to John and Helena Derksen on September 4, 1947. On June 9, 1966, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith. He married Helen Penner on September 11, 1966. They were blessed with three children: Jim, Anne and Alice. Mom and Dad were married 50 years. Together, they resided around the Miami area for most of their married life; living in Miami for the last 6 ½ years.

Dad farmed for a few years and worked with scrap iron and baled flax straw. He also enjoyed dynamiting.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Helen, son, Jim (Carol), daughter, Anne (Bill Schroeder), daughter, Alice (Ian Penner), three granddaughters, Ashley (Caleb Siemens), Alex and Brittany. He is also survived by two brothers, three sisters and their families.

Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 3, 2017 at Morden Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with interment at Roseisle Cemetery. Thank you to the Boundary Trails Health Care staff, home care staff and to our family and friends for the many visits and countless prayers.
