Sarah Brodland left peacefully to be with her Lord on January 26, 2013 at the age of 91 years.

Sarah was born April 9, 1921 in Teddington, Saskatchewan. In her early teens, she made a commitment to follow Jesus and to enter full time Christian service. Sarah loved her Lord deeply, and had a desire to see others come into a relationship with him. She attended the Carlea Bible School in Saskatchewan and the Salvation Army Training College in Toronto. She was commissioned as an Officer and posted to Lethbridge, Alberta, where she met Alfred whom she subsequently married in Calgary on November 20, 1950. The two of them shared their married lives together for a few days short of 50 years. She was always active in the Church, especially in children’s ministries, running a “Bible Club” ministry in her home for 10 years. When her husband Alfred was a patient at the Colonel Belcher Hospital, she led the singing and helped conduct chapel services there for the veterans. After Alfred passed away, she spent time in Waterloo, Ontario and then moved to Winkler, Manitoba, spending her last five years at Garden Park Estates.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons and their spouses: Wayne and Heather, and Dale and Sally; five grandchildren: Ben, Blake, Luke (Laura), Heidi, Naomi; her sister: Agnes Schellenberg; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred; her parents: Katherina (Penner) and Henry Peters; and sisters: Tina Doerksen, Mary Neufeld, Margaret Ens and Bertha Neufeld.

The family thanks Wilbert Friesen, Pastor of the Winkler Evangelical Mennonite Mission Church, and Mike Giesbrecht (Chaplin) and all the staff of the Boundary Trails Health Centre staff who so lovingly cared for Mom during her last three months.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winkler Evangelical Mennonite Mission Church. Sarah will be laid to rest beside her late husband Alfred in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Calgary.

Memorial gifts can be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship.
