Wayne Baerg

(June 23, 1949 – August 16, 2015)

IMG 1027 2Wayne was born to Henry and Elvira Baerg of Dominion City but moved to Winnipeg as a young boy where he spent the rest of his childhood. After his first year of university he attended Bible school  in Hepburn, SK. It was here his spiritual life put down deep roots. Wayne was not much of a talker but his thoughts were worth listening to. When the family moved to BC, Wayne stayed behind to finish his degree in agriculture. During this time he met Kathy Froese; on their first date they laid out the focus of their individual lives: to serve God anywhere, anytime, anyhow. They were married on June 21, 1974 and shortly after moved to Bangladesh to serve with MCC in agriculture for 5 years. On their return to Canada they moved to Winkler and Wayne eventually started his own business as an agronomic consultant focusing primarily on potatoes and natural ways of farming.  In his spare time he enjoyed playing games and recreational hockey. Wayne was actively involved in church ministries: prayer ministry, leadership and Mexico mission trips. In December, 2012, he was diagnosed with cancer and chose to use his remaining time focusing on God and bringing others to Him while still working.  He is survived by Kathy and their children Danny Rebekah, Judith, Jason and Philip (Joanna).

The memorial service was held Wednesday, August, 19,2015 at Winkler MB Church.
