Katherine (Tina) Fehr (nee Dyck)

1931 – 2015

 

fehr tina sqOn Friday, January 23rd, 2015 at Boundary Trails Health Centre at approximately 7:30 a.m. and after a lengthy illness, Tina Fehr at the age of 83 years, went to meet her Lord and Savior.

Tina was born on August 4th, 1931 to Isaac and Mary Dyck (nee Hildebrand) of Winkler. While growing up with her parents’ on the farm, she helped raise her younger siblings and worked at various places as a Nanny to assist the family income. Tina was baptized at an early age after accepting Christ as her personal Savior. Tina met the love of her life, Jake Fehr and they were married on September 27th, 1951 in the Osterwick Sommerfelder Church. While living and working on the Isaac Letkeman farm in the Hasket area, their first child, Jim was born on November 14th, 1952. After that, Mom and Dad moved to Morden where Dad worked at D.A Fehr Ltd., the local International dealer. Mom babysat children from various neighborhood families. While living in Morden, they attended the Morden Bergthaler Church where Mom was involved in the ladies sewing circle. On November 19th, 1955, Mom gave birth to a son, Ray and then another son, Don on April 6th, 1962. In 1966, Mom and Dad moved to Winkler where they resided until Mom’s passing. Mom and Dad became members of the Winkler Bergthaler Church where they both served on various committees. Here again, Mom enjoyed babysitting and cleaned houses to supplement the family income. Once all the boys were in school, Mom started working for the Winkler Co-op Cafeteria as a cook and waitress. She made a lot of long lasting friendships from all who visited the Café. Her wit and remarkable sense of humor made her personality magnetic and unforgettable.

Family was extremely important to Mom. At every family get together with her siblings, there was a lot of laughter and singing. The skits that the siblings performed got everyone laughing with tears in their eyes. An important part of her life was praying for everyone in her life. Mom was a huge “Prayer Warrior” for her family and had a very close relationship with Christ. Her unending wish till the time of her passing was for every one of her children and their families accept to Christ as their Savior.

Mom is survived by her husband, Jake Fehr, three sons, Jim (Irma) Fehr, Andrew, Evan and Shaun , Ray (Amber) Fehr, Adam (Robyn), Terra (Cory), Don (Kathy) Fehr, Nicole (Dan), Orrin, Ezra, Justin (Brittany) and Colin. Mom leaves behind five sisters and four brothers and their families. Mom was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 27, 2015 at Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church with interment at Westridge Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Tina’s memory to the Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care Unit.
