NORVAL ALBERT SPANGELO
July 16, 1943 - December 30, 2014
It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Norval on December 30, 2014 at the age of 71 years at Boundary Trails Health Centre.
Norval leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 42 years, Beverley; his daughter, Sheriann McInnis; grandsons, Tyler McInnis and Zakery McInnis; sister, Cheryl (Bob) Boyko and nieces, Jill Manning and Cassie (Bernie) Harms; brother-in-law, Don Minty (Sonja), nephew, Scott Minty (Kim) great nieces, Ava and Ella; brother-in-law, Jim Minty (Sandy), brother-in-law, Ken Minty (Bobbi), nephew, Brian Minty (Tammy) great nephew, Ryan and great niece, Abby; nephew, Kevin Minty (Hayley) great nephew, Ben and great nieces, Londyn and Sadie, many aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and an abundance of close friends. Norval was predeceased by his parents, Njord and Ida Marie Spangelo (Hildebrand), parents-in-law, Cliff and Isabel Minty (Alsop).
Norval was born July 16, 1943 to Ida (nee Hildebrand) and Njord Spangelo and lived in Morden most of his life. During his childhood he enjoyed life at Morden Nurseries, which was owned by his father and grandpa, Albert Spangelo. He attended Zion School and Morden Collegiate, enjoyed 4-H, Boy Scouts and Sunday School at St. Paul's United Church. In his younger years, Norval loved going to dances, was the life of the party, singing and playing the piano (Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis music) and enjoyed camping with Bev at the Icelandic State Park in North Dakota getting to know and spending fun times with his Cavalier cousins. He had a passion for gardening, landscaping, reading and bird watching, having built many bird houses, especially his purple martin house. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage, taking a keen interest in the family tree which dates back to the early 1500s. Norval was loved and will be missed, but his memory will live forever in our hearts. Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at the hospital for the care given to Norval. Also thanks to Wiebe Funeral Home. An extra special thanks to Shaun K. for being with Bev and Sheri all day.
Celebration of Norval's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 23, 2015 at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden with ash interment at Hillside Cemetery. Donations in Norval’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
