Robert Frank Letkeman

1953 - 2014

letkeman robert sqIt is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of husband and father Robert Frank Letkeman of Morden, MB.  Robert went to meet His Creator, Sustainer and Lord on October 5, 2014, at Boundary Trails Health Centre after a brief battle with cancer. He reached the age of 61.

Robert (Bob) was born on June 23, 1953 to Abram P. & Elizabeth Letkeman of Morden. He was part of a loving family and knew the pain of loss at the age of 7 years when his Mom Elizabeth died of cancer. The hurting family was helped by loving aunts and uncles during this difficult time. Two years later, God provided another Mom for the family – Margaret (Harder) Letkeman and later one more brother was added – Gerald! Thank you God! Robert accepted Jesus as his Saviour at an early age and was baptized in 1976 upon confession of his faith in Christ, becoming a member of Bethel Bergthaler Mennonite Church.

Bob grew up loving to hunt and fish, riding motorcycle, bowling, playing horseshoe, and spending time with family and his many friends. In 1978, Bob married his sweetheart, Laurel (Laurie Spenst) and have been blessed with a precious daughter Robyn Nicole. Our family has always been very close and wanted to spend time together – after all, we are the “three musketeers”! Bob began working for Canada Post as a mail contractor in 1975 and always enjoyed his work, the people at work, and his many customers on the rural routes. In 2004, he became an employee of Canada Post – his position now called a Rural/Suburban Mail Carrier.  He did not miss a day of work due to sickness until June 18, 2014. He possessed a strong work ethic and carried out his duties faithfully, above and beyond the call of duty. Spending time with his brothers and his sister were very important to Bob. In addition, his nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews on both sides of the family were always so special to him! How he loved them all!

Robert was predeceased by his mother and father, Abram and Elizabeth Letkeman, and special nephews Ryan Letkeman and Matthew Hladky. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Laurie after 36 years of marriage, precious daughter Robyn Nicole, Mom Margaret Letkeman, brother Richard (& Martha), sister Ruth (& Frank) Klassen, brother Ronald (& Denise), brother Albert & Pearl (Spenst) Letkeman, brother Raymond (& Brenda), and brother Gerald (& Wendy), and brother-in law Garry (& Connie) Spenst. You have left such a hole in our lives and hearts by leaving us so soon. We trust that God does NOT make mistakes and that he will comfort the ones you left behind. We have given you to our Heavenly Father and will never forget you, but wait to rejoin you in Heaven. Lovingly – Your two girls left behind
