Helen Marina Zacharias (nee Dueck)
1938 – 2014
On Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Helen Zacharias at the age of 75 years left this earth and entered heaven’s gates with loving family by her side.
Helen was born on June 10, 1938 in Gnadenthal, Manitoba to Peter and Margaret Dueck. Helen grew up in Blumenfeld, Manitoba with two sisters and six brothers. On October 23, 1960 Helen married the love of her life, Frank Zacharias. They made their home in the village of Schoenwiese, Manitoba, where they raised two daughters and one son. Helen was blessed with the addition of one son-in-law, one granddaughter and three grandsons. Helen was a tender-hearted and supportive person. Family was extremely important to her. She had a casual and calm personality and easily made friends with people of all ages. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank, one son, Wayne, two daughters, Patricia and Connie and husband, Scott, one granddaughter, Shaelyn, three grandsons, Markus, Cody and Reece, two sisters and five brothers. She was predeceased by her parents and one brother.
Funeral service was held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Bergthaler Mennonite Church in Hochfeld, Manitoba with interment at Schoenwiese Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the medical and palliative care staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre for their kindness and compassion shown to Helen and the family. They would also like to extend thanks to caring and thoughtful family, friends and pastoral support. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Program at the Boundary Trails Health Centre.
