Susan Schellenberg (nee Zacharias)

1925 – 2014

 

schellenberg susan sqIt is with sadness we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Susan Schellenberg on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Mom was born on March 6, 1925 to Peter F. and Helena (nee Klassen) Zacharias.   In 1943 she married Ben Schellenberg and moved to the 1-6 District south of Morden.  They lived and farmed there until they moved to Morden in 1989.  After Dad died in 1991 Mom continued on with the music they both had enjoyed.   She continued to play for her family, friends and volunteered her talents at churches, seniors’ homes and hospitals.

She is survived by her children, Mavis (George) Dyck and their children, Gaylene, Marlen (Angela) and son, Rhett; granddaughters, Janine Schellenerg and son Jullian, Jennifer (Lee), Jodi and (Randy) Mayert and son, Kenneth, Harvey (Glynnis)and his children, Traci and (Neil), Ian and (Colleen) and son, Elias, and Treavor, Phyllis (Ron) Rempel and their children, Adelle (Dereck), Rozlyn (Dave) and Shallon (Matthew). In The Zacharias family she is survived by one sister Tina, two brothers, Harry (Mary) and John (Claudia), one sister-in-law, Gwen and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom is predeceased by her husband Ben Schellenberg (1991), son Ken Schellenberg (2014), Ken’s wife Delores (2012) and their daughter, Tricia (1974).  In the Zacharias family she is also predeceased by three brothers Frank, Peter and George, one brother-in-law, Murray, two sisters-in-law, Tillie and Kaye, one nephew, Randy.

Private funeral and burial service for immediate family only.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Susan’s memory to the Tabor Home Activity Dept 230 9th St. South Morden, MB R6M 1Y3.

To the Family,
Mom and I were saddened to hear of Aunt Susie's passing.
She was always making food for us to eat when we visited her.
Praying for you to be comforted as these days of sadness are here again.
