Wiebe, John B

John B Wiebe

1929 - 2014

wiebe johnIt is with celebration and sorrow that we mourn the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, John B Wiebe. John passed away with his wife, Marilyn at his side on Friday, July 11th, 2014 at the age of 85, at Boundary Trails Health Center.

John is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Marilyn, daughter, Candace (Dave) Stobbe and their children, Chris, Angela (Peter) Campbell and Suzanne; son, Gerald (Ruth) and their children, Lindsey (Brian) , Shannon (Jordie); daughter Talia (Bill) Pura and children, Adrian (Jenny), Alexia (Iain) Hannam and Noelani; son, Lauren (Nancy) and their children, Mark (Kelly) and Brad (Ashley) and son, Bevan (Sandra) and their children, Adrielle, Lance and Ashton as well as six great grandchildren.  John is also survived by one sister, Esther (Frank) Kasunich and one brother, Dave (Vivian) and sister in law, Loraine Wiebe. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, one sister-in-law and his grandson, Michael Wiebe.

John was born on April 18, 1929 and grew up in the Rosefarm School District. He graduated from Winkler Bible School where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Toews. John earned a Masters in Education degree and was an educator in the roles of teacher, principal and superintendent of Rhineland SD. He was an ordained minister for many years although always remained a farmer at heart. His interest in farming lead him to selling farm machinery (Wiebe Farm Power, Plum Coulee) as well as farming with his sons. John enjoyed numerous years in various sales and business consulting positions including Trainex Industries & Opportunities for Employment (Wpg). John loved traveling with Marilyn to Texas, Egypt, Denmark, Israel, Jamaica, and Mexico. He took pride in various renovation projects which lead to many homes and moves. John found great satisfaction in working with a spade and soil; always planting trees, shrubs, flowers & vegetables.

John was a man of deep faith and loved to read and study the Bible. He had a big heart for his family and lived life to the fullest. He was an encourager, always a planner and took great interest in the lives of his children and grandchildren. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." ~ 2 Timothy 4:7

A private service of remembrance was held. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Convery, Robert Schulz, the Palliative Care team, and nursing staff at Boundary Trails Health Center for the outstanding care that John received.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Marilyn and family. I was only privileged to meet with John a couple of times, but I will never forget this kind man with you Marilyn, who helped me get a second start in life by trusting me to eventually have the finances to purchase their home. Trust. kindness. Intelligence. Strength. This is what I saw in John. Thank you John for helping me when I needed it most. Mary
