John Kehler

1945 - 2014

John Kehler sOn Wednesday June 18, 2014 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, John Kehler aged 69 years of Plum Coulee, MB passed away.

John left home early to go custom combining in the U.S. This was the start of a life of hard work and dedication.  He loved moving dirt and spent time throughout his life working heavy construction. He worked on the Winnipeg Floodway, the Z dyke after the flood of 1997, many flood watches, road jobs and more recently the St. Joe wind turbines.  John also spent many years working on the pipeline, earning him the nickname, “Pipeline”. Soon after his daughters were born, he moved to Plum Coulee and started a 25 year career working as the town foreman. John had a hard time taking holidays, so he worked for JKW Construction whenever he had time off from the town and after he retired. John’s family is very proud of the changes he made in the last couple of years and his granddaughter Bailey was blessed to have a wonderful Grandpa. His wife, Sandy, was his everything and after almost 45 years of marriage, they had their ups and downs but it always ended up positive. They were perfect for each other. John will truly be missed by many friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kehler (nee Derksen), daughters, Donna Kehler, Sheryl (Jeremy) Thiessen, granddaughter, Bailey Thiessen, brother, Dave (Hilda) Kehler, sister-in-law, Mary (Dave) Klassen, mother-in-law, Sue Derksen and many nieces and nephews.

A private family interment took place at the Plum Coulee Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Boundary Trails Health Centre Cancer Care.
