Lewis Walter Krushel

1922 - 2014

krushel walter sqOn June 6th, 2014 at the age of 92 years, Walter Krushel passed away peacefully at Tabor Personal Care Home in Morden, MB surrounded by his three sons.

Walter was born April 18th, 1922 on a farm southeast of Morden to parents, Lewis and Olga Krushel. Walter completed ten years of schooling in Morden. On October 3rd, 1943, Walter married Ruth Wiebe, daughter of Cornelius and Helena Wiebe. It was wartime and Walter chose alternate service. During these early years of marriage, Ruth and Walter lived and worked in Dryden, Ontario, Neepawa and Winnipeg. When the war ended, Ruth and Walter returned to Morden and Walter began working in “the shop” which evolved into the family manufacturing business of LKS Ltd. Ruth and Walter had three sons, Wayne born in 1946, Murray in 1948 and Garry in 1953.

Beyond his significant dedication to working in the family manufacturing business, Walter’s interests and involvements included serving on the local credit union board for many years, building and purchasing/remodelling revenue properties, serving as chair of the church building committee, flying the Cessna airplane he and Arnold owned and travel.  There were many family summer vacation camping trips to various locations in Western Canada as well as the mid and western US states. Walter and Ruth did have the opportunity to travel to places like Mexico, Panama, Hawaii, Haiti, the Atlantic Provinces and several European countries.

Walter was predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Olga, as well as his wife, Ruth.  Left to mourn his passing are his sons, Wayne (Mary), Murray (Audrey) and Garry (Anita), grandchildren, Christopher (Traycee), Dana Hunt (Ryan), Shayla Krushel-Wiebe (Anthony), Justin (Dana), Lindsay Livingston (Ian) and great grandchildren, Matthew and Jenaya Hunt, Xavier and Aria Krushel-Wiebe and Elliott Krushel.  He is survived by his brother, Arnold (Anne).

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 11, 2014 at the Church of God in Morden with interment at Hillside Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to all the staff at Tabor Personal Care Home for the wonderful and thoughtful care they provided Walter throughout the years.
