Pauls, Johnny

Johnny (Jack) Isaac Pauls

Jack_Pauls_sqPeacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2012 Johnny went to be with his Lord at the age of 75 at Boundary Trails Health Centre. He was born on a farm two miles south of Purves. He attended the local Willowdale School until Grade 8 and graduated from high school in Pilot Mound. He also spent one year at Winkler Bible School. After bible school he helped his Dad and brother Rudy on the family farm. In July 1960 Johnny married Eileen Janzen and moved to a farm of their own close to the family farm. Dad had an amazing work ethic. Life was busy with grain and dairy farming. It was very important for him to be involved with church work and community. This included the Pool Elevator committee, school trustee, boys clubs, curling, ushering, social committee, coaching, baseball, and more curling. One of Dad's greatest joys was teaching his sons to curl and curling with them. In 1997 Dad and Mom moved from the farm to LaRiviere.

Johnny is survived by his partner in life, his wife Eileen, daughter Angie and her husband Wes Reimer (their children, Josh, Jeremy and Sara), son Tim, son Steve and his wife Carole (their children Russell and Matthew), son Jerry and his wife Cindy (their children Sam, Levi and Emily). He is survived by one sister and one brother. Johnny was predeceased by his parents, Cornie and Sarah Pauls, three brothers and one sister. Though we grieve the loss of our husband, dad and grandpa we are thankful for the life he shared with us. A celebration service was held Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cornerstone Church in Crystal City. Donations may be made in Jack’s memory to MCC.

My mother shared with family recently that when she & my dad fled from West Prussia(Poland- where I was born) spent time in refugee camps that this hymn was dear to her...Weiss ich den Weg auch nicht...translated (roughly) 1) Even tho I don't know the way, You know it well
That quiets my soul and puts me at peace
It is in vain, that I strive to labor,
While my heart beats anxiously, will it be late, be early.
2) You know the way for me, you know the time
your plan is finished and is already ready.
I praise you for your powerful Love,
I praise you for your Grace that brought me healing.
3) You know which way the wind blows so stormy,
and you control it, you will never come too late,
so I quietly wait, your word is no mirage,
you know the way for me, that is enough.

May God's comforting presence & peace be yours as you mourn the loss of your dear husband, father and grandfather. Johnny had a great influence in my life. His love for Eileen and his family always shone through. Johnny was always the consummate gentleman. Johnny's love for sports also served as a role model. Whether it was playing ball or curling he had a competitive side to him that I admired. He always displayed great sportsmanship behaviour. Johnny was also a role model for me in his faith commitment. He exemplified a deep love for Jesus and had a servant attitude. Johnny & Eileen were a great encouragement to us. They never missed a birthday or anniversary to remind us of their love and prayers. We will always remember Johnny's ready laugh and zest for life. He is "absent from the body, present with with the Lord."
In His loving grip,
Ted & Mary Goossen
