Susanna (Susie) Toews (nee Toews)

March 17, 1929 - April 23, 2012 

ToewsSusieSQSusie Toews aged 83 years died early Monday morning April 23, 2012 at the Boundary Trails Health Centre near Winkler, MB.

Susie was the beloved wife of Henry Toews whom she married on July 4, 1953. To their union were born five children in quick succession: Darrel Glenn, Darrel Henry, Laverne David, Myrna Elaine, and Arthur James.

Susie was baptized as a teenager by Bishop William Falk. Serving and working as a lifelong member of the Evangelical Mennonite Mission Church in several locales, Susie was very dedicated as a faithful believer and practitioner of the Christian faith. Volunteering at Mennonite Central Committee thrift stores represented a practical and enjoyable service outlet for her.

In addition to her dear husband Henry, she is survived by four children and their spouses: Darrel and Lucille Harms Toews of Kitchener, ON; Laverne and Ruth Toews of Crandall, MB; Myrna and Garry Buhr of Bagot, MB; Arthur and Debra Toews of Bagot, MB; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Also remaining to remember her life are her sisters, Tina Derksen, Mary Unger (Jack); sisters-in-law, Henrietta Toews, Anne Toews, Eleanor Toews, Eva Friesen; brother-in-law, John and Anna Toews and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by and her son, Darrel in infancy as well as her parents, Diedrich and Katherina (nee Driedger) Toews, brothers, Abram, Jacob, Diedrich and Lawrence; brothers and sisters-in-law, Maria Toews, Peter Toews, twins: Erdman Toews and Elizabeth Toews, Tina and Jake Nickel, two half brothers-in-law, Diedrich Toews, Jacob Toews and five half-sisters-in-law, Helena Dyck, Margaretha Dyck, Maria Toews, Anna Dueck and Justina Kehler.

Anticipating heavenly glories, Susie lived, worked and died in great resurrection hope. 

Funeral service was held on Wednesday April 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Winkler EMM Church with interment at Winkler Cemetery.
