Penner, Susana

Susana Penner

1998 - 2012

img535Susana Penner, daughter of Jacob and Katharina Penner was born in Mexico on November 7, 1998 weighing 4lbs 6oz. In February 2000, they moved to Manitoba. Then in May 2001, she became very sick with pneumonia and had to spend one week in the Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg. In June, she had a hear cath test to see how her heart looked. They found that she had two holes in her heart. So in July 2001, she had her first surgery on her heart and in October 2001 she had open heart surgery to repair the holes that she had. After the surgery everything seemed fine. Even after all she had been through, she still always wore a smile and didn’t complain, not even about all the pokes she got from the needles. In December 2008, the family went to Mexico for Christmas and during that time, she collapsed two times. After the family got back to Manitoba, she had another heart test which was so hard on her that she barely pulled through. During the last nine days of her life here on earth, she collapsed four times; the last time was at school on Tuesday morning just as school was about to begin. The ambulance was called and she was taken to Boundary Trails Health Centre where she left this life and went to be with her Lord at approximately 9:30 a.m. She reached an age of 13 years 2 months and 24 days. She was always cheerful and the smile she had and hugs she gave could brighten anyone’s day. Susana always looked forward to being able to share her birthday with her family and friends. She always loved it when the family came home. We will miss her greatly but we rejoice with her knowing that now she can receive the Showers of Blessing she so often sang about.

She leaves to mourn her passing her parents, Jacob and Katherine Penner, seven sisters, Margaret and Ben Redekop, Helena and Ben Peters, Katherine and Albert Lozano, Anna and John Voth, Trudy and Peter Derksen, Nettie and Tony Peters, and Judy, two brothers, John and Lisa Martens, Jacob and Elma Martens, seven nieces, five nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by one brother and one sister in infancy.

Funeral service was held on Sunday February 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Winkler Reinland Mennonite Church with interment at the Church Cemetery in Schanzenfeld.

A big thank you to everyone for your thoughts, gifts, prayers and all other acts of kindness at this time. Thank you to the ambulance and hospital staff. A special thank you to Susana’s teachers, bus drivers and fellow students and friends for all the kind things you have done for her. Thank you to all who helped with the funeral, the song leaders, soundman, ushers and serving ladies. We would like to thank Wiebe Funeral Home for your kind and thoughtful service. We do not sorrow as those who have no hope.

Having had a heart baby one tends to feel a special closeness to those who share the same. Susanna looks like an energetic lovable gentle soul. and as you know God only takes the best. You will have many good and bad days as you remember her. Sometimes it will feel like a life time ago and somedays like yesterday. God puts tears in your eyes when He wants to put a rainbow in your heart.. May God comfort you and wrap His arms around you and cradle you in His love.....

I will always fondly remember Susana. She was truly a special little girl. Joshua also really loved her when he was at Southwood. They are now rejoicing together in heaven. Prayers for your family.
