MIRAU, Susanna
Susanna was born August 16, 1930, to Jacob and Maria Hibert (nee Wins), in Iwanowka, Siberia. She spent her childhood years in the community of Chaldajewka. At an early age, Susanna heard the gospel, and accepted Jesus as her Savior. At the age of 21 she married Peter Mirau, and together in 1955, they were baptized by their church Elder, Rev. Heinrich Warketin. In the ensuing years their seven sons and four daughters were born, and to this family they added by adoption, two orphans, twin boys in 1983. Major changes took place, beginning in 1988, when Susanna and Peter and their family left Russia and moved to Germany. By 1991 their family circle was complete in Germany. Eight years later one of their sons moved to Manitoba, Canada, which started at gradual migration to Canada by the rest of the family, finally including Susanna and Peter. For most of her life, Susanna struggled with Asthma. In her latter years in Canada, she was also diagnosed having cancer of the liver. Then Monday December 5, Susanna Mirau was released from her physical sufferings, just 4 days before their 60th wedding anniversary; to be with her Savior, whom she had loved and served throughout her life. She will lovingly be remembered by her husband Peter Mirau, her seven sons, four daughters, two adopted sons, and their spouses, also by 49 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
The funeral service for Susanna Mirau, nee Hibert, will be held Friday, December 9, 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church in Reinfeld.
