Donald Alexander Livingston
1925 - 2011
Donald Alexander Livingston passed away August 16, 2011 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia.
Don was born in Morden, Manitoba April 21, 1925 and was a well known businessman, Kinsman and community contributor there until 2004 when he moved to Parksville and later Nanaimo, British Columbia. He served in the RCAF during World War Two and returned home to operate the family retail business and went on to work in the steel building business, property development and many other business ventures and was on the board of the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation. He received many commendations including the Golden Jubilee Medal and the Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada both from the Governor General of Canada. Livingston Nature Park in Morden was named after Don and Shirley in gratitude for their many years of service to the community.
He will be remembered and missed by many people and particularly by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Livingston, his children, Peter (Judy) of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Joyce Smith (Kelvin) of Carman, Manitoba and Paul (Barbara) of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia and his 26 grand and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughters, Susan and Beverly.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St Paul’s United Church, 353 Thornhill St. in Morden. Ash interment at Hillside Cemetery. The family requests all donations be sent to Cancer Care Manitoba.
