Peter Ginther
1929 – 2011
It is with profound sadness and immeasurable memories that we announce the sudden passing of Pete on July 29th, 2011 at the family ome south of Morden. With attributes of physical strength and mental alertness, Pete slipped from this world to a destination of deserved rest and spiritual contentment to be welcomed to his eternal home by his beloved wife, Rosalind, departed family members and friends who embarked on this incredible journey before him. Even though we are missing him, we celebrate his life and the treasured memories that have been created during our times together. We will never get over the loss of his presence in our lives. He will be deeply missed and there will be a hurt in our hearts that will never heal.
Peter was born at the family home on November 6, 1929 to Aganetha and Abram J. Ginther.
Left to cherish Pete’s memory and mourn his loss are his children, Sherry (Dennis), Sunday (Charles) and their son, Chadwick (Wendy), Joey (Darlene) and his children, Vanessa, Nicholas, Delaney and Taylor, Centennial (Vic) and their daughter, Annika, Anna (Doug) and their son, Tanner.
Left to remember Pete are his sisters, Nettie, Anne, Elizabeth (Pete), Martha, Mary (Bert) and brother, Isaac (Susan), brother-law Wayne (Lorraine) and sister-in-law Darlene as well as many nieces and nephews. Pete was predeceased by his parents Abram J. and Aganetha (Wiens) Ginther, wife Rosalind, sisters, Tina, Helen and brothers John, Jake and Abe.
Our memories of Pete will last a lifetime. As a young man, he worked for several farmers in grain cleaning plants in the Darlingford area. It was there that he met the love of his life, Rosalind Kroetsch. They were married on December 25, 1954. For several years, they lived in that area where he worked. Later, they moved to Rosebank and then to farmland south of Morden which they purchased. During this time, Pete continued to work in the flax straw industry for Domtar and Kimberley Clark. He later established his own flax straw baling operation. Pete and Rosalind worked side by side for many years during baling season. Upon retirement, Pete established his own scrap metal business which he continued to work at until his passing.
He was a devoted husband and caring dad who demonstrated an excellent work ethic to make a home for his family. Pete enjoyed many things such as the outdoors, attending auction sales, playing cards, gardening, making friends and going out for coffee, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his grandchildren. They spent extended times together at the farm visiting, playing games and enjoying each other’s company. Pete was a wonderful grandfather and a strong supportive, good natured person who was liked by people of all ages. He was always ready to help others, giving freely of his time and never expecting anything in return. He was talented in mathematics, machinery repair and playing cribbage. Pete was the singles’ champion of the Morden Legion cribbage tournaments in March of 2010 and 2011.
The Ginther and Kroetsch Families sincerely thank the many people for their acts of kindness during this difficult time through expressions of sympathy, cards, floral arrangements and food during our time of grief.
A celebration of Pete’s life was held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Westside Community Church in Morden. Pete has been laid to rest in the Chapel Cemetery beside his beloved wife, Rosalind. Forever in time, they share togetherness in death as they did in life.
We will remember Pete …
In the newly, turned earth of springtime,
And the humming of tractors in summer sun,
We will remember him.
In the ripening, rustling fields of autumn,
And the countless card games in winter.
We will remember him.
In the faces of his children,
And the laughter of the grandchildren,
We will remember him.
So long as we shall live,
He too shall live,
For he is part of us,
And we shall remember him.
