Raymond (Ray) Plett
1952 - 2011
Suddenly and tragically on July 16, 2011 Ray Plett of Morden, MB passed away at Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg, only 34 hours after a successful kidney transplant. Ray was 58 years old, born on Aug 13, 1952.
Ray worked in the Heavy Construction field all his life. He enjoyed what he did, and all the people he worked with. Ray was a man of honesty, integrity and hard work. For fun Ray loved: Harley riding, fishing, boating, hunting, traveling, snowmobiling, cooking, entertaining, teasing and laughing. Wherever Ray was, is where the fun was. He had a special way with people, and touched many lives. No one will ever, ever forget Ray Plett.
In Ray's later years, he was blessed with 2 sets of twins from his daughters Shawna and Shelly, born only 2 months apart in 2007. Ray's new focus in life was being the best "Papa" in the world. He took his grandchildren under his wing, and taught, mentored, loved and cherished them with all of his heart.
Ray leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Sherry Lynn Plett, three daughters, Shawna and Scott Howard (Austin, Amber), Shelly Plett and Craig Roberts (Brooke, Kerri) and Jackie Plett. He is survived by two sisters, Helen and Ed Wiens, Cathy and Tom Mitchell, his brother, Richard and Diana Plett and sister-in-law, Tina Plett and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents, Isaac and Katrina Plett and brother, Ron Plett.
Ray, Dad, Papa: we love you so, so much. You leave behind a legacy that no one could ever fill. We know you’re up in heaven watching over all of us, and someday we will meet again. Until then, keep building that highway in heaven.
Funeral service was held on Saturday July 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Morden Mennonite Church with interment at Knightcot Cemetery.
