Herman W Heide

1939 - 2011

HeideHermanOn Friday, June 10, 2011 at 5:00pm with his wife, Anna and niece, Mary by his side, Herman Heide passed away peacefully at his residence at the age of 72 years 3 months. He bravely endured a long battle with a heart condition and cancer.

He was a loving husband, dear father, grandfather and great grandfather and friend. Herman was born on March 12, 1939 to Herman and Maria Heide in their home in Schanzenfeld, MB. In the spring of 1960, Herman was baptized upon his confession of his faith in Jesus Christ at the Winkler Sommerfeld Church. In fall on September 4, 1960 he married Anna Wolfe from the village of Chortitz. They both later joined the Winkler Evangelical Mennonite Church. God granted them 50 years 9 months 6 days together. They were blessed with 4 children in this union.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Anna (nee Wolfe), son, Wes, daughters, Cecilia (John) Fehr, Cheryl (Mike) Kehler and grandchildren, Brendyn and friend, Gabriel, Kyndrielle, Miekeala, Steven and friend, Benita, Joshua, Jeremy, David and Jasmine and great grandchild, Ryan. Herman was the second youngest of 16 children and is survived by sisters, Agatha (John) Reimer, Maria Enns, Lydia Neufeld, brother, John (Isabell) Heide; brother in-law, Jack (Dorothy) Penner, and sister in-law, Susie Friesen.

Youngest son, Cory David predeceased him on October 26, 2002. Herman was also predeceased by brothers, Jacob (Eva) Friesen, Isaac (Mary) Friesen, Abraham Friesen, Peter Friesen, Jack Heide; sisters, Mary (Jim) VanDusen, Helen Friesen (Penner), Nettie (John) Martens, Tina (Peter) Nelson, Mathilda Heide, Helena (John) Hiebert and brothers-in-law, William Neufeld and George Enns.

Memorial service was held on Thursday June 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Winkler EMMC with interment prior at Winkler Cemetery.

He received wonderful care from the many doctors and nurses at the Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care and Cancer Care Units, St. Boniface Hospital Cardiac Unit and HSC. We also want to thank Dr Lines, Dr Woelk and Dr. Leiman for their professional care and friendships that developed, Karen Schaak for all her special care, all the people who supported us in prayer, visits and bringing food and offering their services throughout this hard time. Another special thank you goes to Pastor Dale for all his supporting visits and Wiebe Funeral Home for their professional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Herman’s memory to the Boundary Trails Palliative Care Unit and Inner City Youth c/o Janet Blatz.
