Aganetha “Nettie” Dyck

1928 - 2011

Dyck_Nettie_ovIt is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our aunt and great aunt, Nettie Dyck. She passed away quietly at the Salem Home in Winkler, MB on Thursday March 17, 2011 to be with her Lord and Saviour. Her songs of praise could be heard throughout the halls of the Cottonwood wing until her health would not permit her to do so any more. She is where she has always longed to be.

Nettie was born January 3, 1928 in the Winkler area to Peter and Helena (nee Reimer) Dyck. She was the 14th child in a family of 15. In her early years, she attended the Blumenfeld School and then travelled to Paraguay with her parents and lived there for approximately two years. Upon returning to Canada, she stayed with her parents at Elm Creek and then later on moved with them to 3rd St. in Winkler where she lived until the passing of her mother. From there, Nettie lived in a group home on Mountain St. and worked at Valley Rehab, now Gateway Resources. On May 8, 2003, she was received by Salem Home where she was cared for until her passing.

She leaves to mourn her passing one sister, Anne Pfuhl of British Columbia and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed but not forgotten.

Funeral service was held on Monday March 21, 20011 at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden with Pastor David Friesen officiating. Interment followed at Wingham Cemetery, north of Elm Creek.

Thank you to the staff of Salem Home for the care and love Nettie received during her stay there.
