Gerhard (George) Bock Jr.

Bock_georgesqGeorge Bock passed away peacefully on February 16, 2011 at Tabor Home, Morden, at the age of 89.

He was born on February 15, 1922 at Franzfeld, Russia to Rev. Gerhard and Katherina Bock, emigrated to Canada in 1924 and grew up in the Crystal City, Mather and Clearwater areas. He was baptized on confession of his faith in Jesus Christ on May 31, 1942 in Crystal City. On October 24, 1948 he married Helena Neufeld of Manitou in the Manitou M.B. Church. They farmed for 41 years at Clearwater and retired to Crystal City in January of 1990. He was predeceased by Helena on January 24, 2000. He continued to live in Crystal City until October 2005 when he moved to Morden. He always enjoyed visiting and going for coffee. For about 3 years after moving to Morden, a highlight of his week was to go to Winkler with Geraldine and go out for lunch with his sister Helen. Family was important to him and he liked having gatherings. Dad always wanted to celebrate every birthday and every anniversary. He especially enjoyed when the grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit. In June of 2008, because of failing health, he moved into Tabor Home where he received excellent care.

He is survived by 1 son and 2 daughters and their families, Richard (Louise) Bock, Jacqueline (Chris) Unrau and Isabella, Teresa (Keith) Fast and Seth, Jeremy (Andrea) Bock; Shirley (Alfred) Dyck: Christine (Mark) Hildebrand and Griffin, Leah and Darwin, Carleigh (Jamie) Grenier and Connor and Reece, Michael (Alissa) Dyck and Karsen and Kyler; Geraldine (Sheldon) Hildebrand and Ethan and Aynsley. He is also survived by 2 sisters, 2 brothers and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held at Morden EMM Church on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gerald Neufeld and Chaplain Morris Vincent officiating. Interment followed at Crystal City Cemetery

The family would also like to say a special thank you to all those who supported us in prayer, cards, phone calls and other tokens of love during this time of loss. May God bless you. Love, the Family.
