Elizabeth “Liz” Reimer (nee Dyck)

1937 - 2011

reimer_liz_sqOn January 17, 2011 Elizabeth (Liz) Reimer slipped peacefully into eternity to be with her Lord Master. She fought a courageous battle with cancer but God was at her side at all times. She never said why me, because she knew that God had led her to it and He would lead her through it! During her last weeks of her life she prayed and prayed to God in an audible voice for each and every one of us. She said she had been at the altar with Jesus and she had seen the wonders of heaven and begged and pleaded God for us all to be there as well. We praise God that He answered her prayers and released her from her suffering. She first felt her pain in February, 2010 and had seen many doctors, but the pancreatic cancer was not detectable until October 27 where she was immediately admitted to Boundary Trails Health Centre. Liz would have loved to see all her friends and relatives during that time, but due to her pain and nausea it was difficult for her to communicate with people.

Liz was born in Friedensruh, MB and when she was 5 years old the family moved to Rosenthal; from there to Schanzenfeld where she attended school. She met the love of her life, Isaac Reimer when she worked at the Harvest Inn as a waitress. On May 27, 1961 they were united in Holy Matrimony in the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in Winkler. They had twin girls, Lori and Julie of whom they were very proud of. Ike built a house in Schanzenfeld and the family moved there in 1970. After the passing of her husband in June 1998, she continued to keep up the yard but it was too much for her to care for and so in 2000 she bought a house and moved to Winkler. She continued to keep active by golfing, walking, floor curling, floor shuffle and meeting her dear friends at COOP for coffee. These special ladies up lifted her and gave her a reason to get up in the morning.

Liz was predeceased by her husband Ike, June 19, 1998. Liz leaves to mourn her passing; her twin daughters Lori Reimer (Rudi), Julie Friesen (Doug), her sisters Mary Miller (Matt), Tina Fehr (Jake), Agnes Solmundson late (Joe), Helen Warkentine (Ed), Anne Thiessen (John), Agatha Harder (Jack) , her brothers Ike Dyck late (Anne), George Dyck (Anne), Abe Dyck (Patsy), John Dyck (Edith), Jake Dyck (Marilyn), and their families.

Funeral service was held on Thursday January 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Winkler Mennonite Church with interment at Winkler Cemetery.
