Annie Goertzen (nee Fast)

1920 – 2011 

GoertzenAnnieSQOn Thursday January 6, 2011 at Rock Lake Personal Care Home in Pilot Mound, MB, Annie Goertzen aged 90 years formerly of Winkler passed away. 

She was born in Russia to Cornelius and Anna Wall (nee Janzen) on January 21, 1920. In 1925, after her mother remarried, the family immigrated to Mexico, and then later to Kansas.   Annie was baptized into the General Conference Mennonite Church in 1938 and married Henry R. Goertzen on May 30, 1943. In 1946 they immigrated to Canada and made their home in Winkler. Here they raised their children. 

She leaves to mourn her passing 7 daughters, 1 son, 1 daughter-in-law, 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry R. Goertzen in 2001 and one daughter in infancy. 

A memorial celebration of her life was held at the Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church on January 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Private interment was held prior to the service at the Winkler Cemetery. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Rock Lake Personal Care Home for the exceptional care provided during our mother’s stay. In lieu of flowers, donations in Annie’s memory are gratefully accepted by the Rock Lake Health District Foundation, P.O Box 130, Crystal City, MB R0K 0N0.
