Hildebrand, Frank Jerome

hildebrand frank3.jpgIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and friend Frank Hildebrand. After a courageous battle with cancer and the Manitoba Health care system, Frank passed away peacefully on Monday, September 27th, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings Leona (John Breckenridge and daughter Joanne), Peter (Laurie and daughters Hayley & Allison), Eleanor (Jake Dyck and son Shane), David, Alan (Laura and children John, Luke & Rachel), Harvey, and Robert (Kim and son Justin); and Drayden, Raia and Lindsay. Frank was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen (Braun) Hildebrand and his sister Diane.

Frank was born on July 15th, 1957 in Winkler, Manitoba. His early years were spent on the family farm in Glencross and he completed his schooling in Morden. He spent many years working in Alberta in construction and the oil and gas industry before returning to Winnipeg. During the past eighteen years he worked hard to achieve success in his business as a general contractor.

Frank loved the outdoors and chose jobs where he could spend most of his time

outside. He was athletic in his youth and excelled in hockey and baseball. He was an avid golfer, downhill skier and loved to fish and travel. His great regret was that he was unable to do the African safari he had planned.

Franks presence will be greatly missed by his family, friends and business associates. He loved being grandpa to Drayden and Raia and a father figure to Lindsay, the daughter and grandchildren of his dear friend, Jodi. Frank was a great favorite with his nieces and nephews and he was always there to offer advice and lend a helping hand. His passing comes at a time when he was looking forward to enjoying life more, and his siblings will sorely miss being able to say "Hey, Frank, want to.....?" Family occasions will never be the same without his vitality, generosity, humor and candor.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the front line staff on GD6 (HSC) and at Cancer Care Manitoba for their care and compassion.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Frankʼs life will take place on Saturday, October 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden. Another celebration of his life will take place in Winnipeg on Tuesday, October 5th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Norwood Community Centre, 87 Walmer St., St. Boniface.
