Jacob Hiebert.jpgJacob Hiebert, aged 87 passed away November 23, 2010 at Altona Memorial Hospital. He was born in Nienborch (near Gnadenthal), MB on December 13, 1922. Upon confession of faith he was baptized in 1951 in Altona.

Jake was predeceased by his parents, Abram and Marie Hiebert (nee Groening); brothers Abe, Corny, Peter, and John Hiebert; sisters Anne Sawatzky, Mary Elias, Katharina Dyck, and Helen Hone; and one daughter-in-law Rose Hiebert.

Jake grew up and attended school in Gnadenthal. He later married his wife and had 4 children. His kids were his life. Jake did everything he could to provide and care for them. Throughout his life, Jake did a lot of farming. He did a lot of grain farming as well as raising cattle, sheep, chickens, and later on geese. Even when his kids were all grown up Jake continued to farm with his 2 sons. This led Jake and his son Jake to reside on a small farm yard close to Carman. Eventually, Jake and his son moved to an apartment in Altona. Jake enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed reading the paper and bible, going to church, and traveling. In the past, Jake went to places such as Vancouver and Niagra falls.

Jake leaves to mourn his sister Susan Dyck; sons Jake and Abe Hiebert; daughters Jessie Barten and Susan Soper; son-in-laws Ernie Barten and Ken Soper; grandchildren Marvin Barten, Katherine Hiebert, Randy Soper, and Tracy Hiebert; and one great grandchild Nevaeh Hiebert.

Funeral service was held on Saturday November 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Morden Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with interment at Rosenbach Cemetery.
