HendersonEuniceSQ.jpgOn Monday June 21, 2010 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Eunice Henderson, aged 87 years of Morden, MB passed away.

Born in Darlingford, Manitoba she lived in various towns before graduating high school. Eunice graduated as a registered nurse from Brandon General Hospital in 1944. Nursing took Eunice to hospitals in Morden, Norway House, Winnipeg and Edmonton. In Winnipeg Eunice rose to become the Head Nurse of the Women’s Pavilion at the Health Sciences Center. In 1969 Eunice moved to Morden where she worked in the Public Health Unit until she retired in 1978. After retirement she lived in the country on the Bowen homestead until 1995 when she moved into Elks Park Place in Morden.

With Eunice, Nursing was a passion, not just a profession. She devoted time, energy and love to helping others. This continued after retirement assisting friends, family and neighbours wherever she could. In addition she was active in the United Church.

Eunice will also be remembered for her sharp wit and willingness to speak out when she felt that there was an injustice to correct.

Left to mourn her passing is her brother, Ross Henderson of Vancouver, BC, sister-in-law, Vina Henderson of Morden, ten nieces and nephews as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Iris Cavers, brother, Wilbert Henderson, sister-in-law, Frieda Henderson and brother-in-law, Roy Cavers.

Memorial service was held on Thursday June 24, 2010 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s United Church with ash interment at Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eunice’s memory to Boundary Trails Health Centre Box 2000 Winkler, MB R6W 1H8.
