Marie "Mary" Froese

1927 - 2010

froese mary miss.jpgOn Tuesday November 9, 2010 at Salem Home in Winkler, MB, Mary Froese aged 83 years passed away.

She was born in Chortitz, MB on February 19, 1927. Upon confession of faith, she was baptized on January 3, 2001 at Morden Sommerfeld Mennonite church by Bishop Peter Hoeppner.

Mary grew up in Chortitz and attended the old Chortitz school. After she completed school, she went to Winnipeg and worked at the King George Hospital and later at the Children’s Hospital. Then she left for Ontario to work at the cannery. After she father passed away, Mary came back to Winnipeg and lived with her mother in an apartment. There she did some welding and sewing. When he mom passed away, Mary returned to Winkler and stayed at her sister, Helen’s and painted barns. Then she went to stay with her sister, Katherine and eventually she decided to buy a little white house on Mountain St. in Morden, MB. She worked at the poultry plant, sewing factory, the cannery and later retired.

Mary enjoyed spending time with the family and friends. She enjoyed baking and no one will ever forget that puffed wheat cake. If you ever went there for faspa, you always got lots of food and you never left there hungry. Marie was also very clean. Never has there been a house cleaner than Mary’s. Even the lawn had to be cut and sprayed just so. And we didn’t park on the driveway if our car leaked oil otherwise, she would be out there on her hands and knees cleaning it up.

She leaves to mourn her passing her sister, Katherine Wolfe of Winkler, 3 sisters-in-law, Helen Froese, Anne Froese, Agatha Froese and many nieces and nephews and their families. We sorrow not as those who have no hope but fully believe that she has gone to be with the Lord and Saviour to enjoy the beauty of heaven forevermore.

She was predeceased by her parents, John A. and Elizabeth (nee Schellenberg) Froese; her brothers John, Jacob, Abe and Peter and sisters, Nettie Unger, Margaret Lacroix, Elizabeth Dyck and Helen Janzen.

Funeral service was held on Sunday November 14, 2010 at Morden Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with interment at Chortitz Old Colony Mennonite Church Cemetery.

A special thanks to the ministers, John Friesen and Art Wiebe, songleaders, pianist, serving ladies, pallbearers, Wiebe Funeral Home, Morden Sommerfeld Mennonite Church and all those who have sent their condolences to the family.
