ToewsJacobSQ.jpgOn Sunday August 15, 2010, Jacob Toews, of Morden, MB passed peacefully away at Salem Home at the age of 87 years.

Jacob was born at the district of Eigenhof on September 20, 1922 to Dietrich and Katharina (nee Driedger) Toews, the oldest of 7 children. He married Anne Dyck in 1950 and together they raised 6 children. They lived and farmed at Bergfeld for many years. Jacob worked for the RM of Rhineland and later for CSP Foods in Altona (now Bunge). After retirement, Jacob and Anne moved to Morden where they made new friends and enjoyed their garden and yard. He and Anne enjoyed travelling and camping with family and friends. His faith was central to how he lived his life. He was a member of the Bergfeld and Morden EMM Churches and served in many capacities throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Toews, his six children; Gerald and Linda, Carol and Wayne Benedet, Bob and Karen, Melvin and Jerri-Ann, Reg and Jen Sheldon and Maureen as well as 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all of us. He will also be missed by his extended family and his friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers and a daughter-in-law.

A celebration of his life was held on Thursday August 19, 2010 at 3:30 pm at the Morden EMM Church with interment at the Eigenhof Cemetery prior to the service.

Our family is deeply grateful for the professional and compassionate care he received from the staff on the Willow Unit at Salem Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jacob’s memory to the Salem Foundation Inc. 165 15th St. Winkler, MB R6W 1T8.
