Anne Thiessen (nee Wiebe)

1952 - 2010

Annne Thiessen SQ.jpgOn Sunday October 10, 2010, after a courageous battle, Anne Thiessen departed peacefully to be with the Lord at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 37 years, Jake, her daughters, Linda Hoeppner (Gerry), Lois Derksen (Chris), Laura Martens (Christoph) and her son, Jacob Thiessen (Tricia) and grandchildren, Jesse, Jenelle and Jillian Thiessen. Anne is also lovingly remembered by her parents, Abram and Helen Wiebe, four sisters and two brothers.

Anne was born in Mexico and immigrated to Canada at the age of 6. She lived with her family in Schoenwiese for 33 years, enjoying her career as a farm wife, her husband’s book keeper, and homemaker, making many good meals for her family. Anne treasured time with her family.

Anne struggled with chronic bronchiectasis. She suffered many lung infections as a child. A third of her right lung was removed at age 26. She endured frequent hospitalizations due to pneumonia and gradually declined in her health, having fought the battle for most of her life.

Our mom was a woman who lived out faith, hope and love. She always put the needs of others first, and sought to point others to Christ. The joy of the Lord was her strength. Anne was treasured and loved by her church family, Victory In Christ International Church.

The service celebrating her life was held on Thursday October 14, 2010 at Winkler Mennonite Church with burial prior at the Schoenwiese Cemetery.

A special thank you to the healthcare staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre for their compassionate care.

If friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to Children’s Camp International.

A scripture verse that describes her life is 2 Timothy 4:7: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
