RomboughIsabelleSQ.jpgSadly we announce the passing of Isabelle Rombough on Friday, October 1, 2010. Isabelle died peacefully with her family by her side at St. Boniface Hospital after complications from cardiac surgery. Born August 22, 1924, she received her education at Darlingford School and went on to become a telephone operator at the Rathwell and Darlingford Exchanges until her marriage to Douglas Rombough in October, 1943.

She and Doug worked side by side farming, and raising their 3 children, 1 son and 2 daughters. Isabelle was a 4-H leader for a number of years. When the family left the nest, Isabelle was hired by Morden District Hospital as an assistant cook. She worked her way up to Head Cook and eventually Dietary Supervisor, a position she held until she retired.

In 1992 she and Doug sold their farm and retired to Morden. Her family remained her main interest, but she kept busy gardening and doing crafts and handwork. Many homes are adorned with pieces of her handiwork. Mom remained an avid learner all her life, mastering the computer in her 80's to enable her to email her family. She loved hockey and baseball and faithfully followed her favourite teams on television.

Isabelle was predeceased by her parents, H.A and Lila Lowry, two brothers, Howard and Ross Lowry and sisters-in- law, Ruth Quantock and Eileen Law.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Douglas, son, Kenneth (Christina) of Carcross, Yukon, two daughters, Ruth (Charles Vines) of Crystal City and Louise (Dr. Rick MacGillivray) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Also mourning Grandma's passing are grandchildren Rodney and Randy Rombough of Fort Nelson, BC, Robin Henshall (Michael) of Chilliwack, BC, Richard (friend Meagan) and Heather MacGillivray of Dartmouth, NS and five great grandchildren, Elijah, Naomi and Hannah Henshall and Ethan and Cale Rombough. She also leaves behind one brother, Loyde (Flora) of Morden and one sister, Florence (Rev. Wm. Davis) of Winnipeg, brother-in-law, Hugh Rombough (Esme) of B.C. and many nieces and nephews and friends.

A private interment will take place at the Darlingford Cemetery followed by a celebration of her life at Wiebe Funeral Chapel 1050 Thornhill St. in Morden on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 2:00 pm.
