Rempel, Johann “John”

Johann “John” Rempel

1979 – 2010

RempelJohannSQ.jpgOn the evening of Friday, August 27, 2010 our Heavenly Father called John, loving Husband and Daddy, age 30 years and 9 months, to his eternal home.

John was born November 23, 1979 in Mexico to Abraham and Katharina Rempel, the fourth of seven children. He and his four oldest sisters were close in age and very close friends. They shared many good memories growing up together. He loved his brother and youngest sister as well, but they were not close in age and were not able to bond as closely.  John was baptized on the confession of his faith on May 30, 1999. On July 2, 2000 he and Mary (Krahn) were united in marriage. In their 10 years, 1 month and 3 weeks of marriage they shared many joys and sorrows. Among their greatest blessings were their three healthy boys: Kevin (8), Leroy (6) and Kyle (3).  John had a great desire to serve the Lord. He loved leading children in Awana and Sunday School. Just the Sunday before his passing he signed up to be an Awana leader for the coming year and also offered to be a Sunday School teacher. John and Mary also served as Serving Group Coordinators for four years. John loved serving at functions, and would always go if his health was good.  John worked at Berdick Windows & Doors for almost seven years, as his health allowed. He always enjoyed his work, and longed to go back to work at Berdick if only he could.  John struggled with his health for eight years. He was diagnosed with polyps in his colon in April of 2002. On June 19, 2002 he had his first major surgery, and then another one four weeks later. His health improved and he was feeling good, with no pain, until December of 2003, when he became ill again. Then the pain returned in January, 2004, and he lived with this pain until the time of his passing. On December 21,

2004 John was diagnosed with a very rare disease called Gardner Syndrome. Then in October, 2008 he was diagnosed with a malabsorbtion problem which resulted in having to be fed intravenously from then on. In February, 2010 John had his last surgery and after that struggled with many infections. Although John endured many surgeries, and much pain, he was not one to complain about what he was going through and was always hopeful that he would some day regain his health. However, on Friday evening around 9:35 pm, God relieved John of his pain by calling him home to Eternity.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, and three sons: Kevin, Leroy and

Kyle. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Katharina and Johann Fehr, five sisters, one brother, seven stepsisters, two stepbrothers, and their families, as well as his maternal grandparents, his parents-in-law, one sister-in-law, and one brother-in-law and his family. He was predeceased by his father Abraham Rempel in April of 2003.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Zion

Mennonite Church in Schanzenfeld with interment at the church cemetery.
