ReichertMargSQ.jpgOn Monday, June 7, 2010 surrounded by members of her family and care team, Marg Reichert, aged 88 years, got her final wish and died peacefully at home in Morden, MB.

Left to treasure family memories are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Rosanne Reichert of Morden, Raymond Reichert of Winnipeg, Doug Reichert and Anna Marinelli of Calgary, AB, Deanne Reichert of Morden; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Gerry Williams of Winnipeg and Sherril and Gary Guthrie of Abbotsford, BC; sister, Isabel Minty of Morden; brother, Don Alsop of Powell River, BC; her 10 cherished grandchildren, Douglas, Shauna, Sean, Monica, Darren, Lori, Travis, Tanya, Beau and Maria; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Marg was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Ed (2006), eldest son, Bill, parents, Donald and Bessie, brother, Doug, and sisters, Emma and Gladys.

Marg was born in Thornhill, MB and moved to Morden with husband, Ed where they became permanent and active members of the community. While Ed grew and managed his business (The Morden Tire Shop) Marg masterfully managed a busy home with six children. Marg was involved in The United Church (Explorers and CGIT), taught 4-H Cooking Classes and volunteered at many school, sports and community events. Marg’s personal passion was curling. She loved playing lead, won her share of trophies in Manitoba bonspiels, and followed the achievements of family, friends and the pros. She was also an avid hockey and baseball fan.

Marg’s final wish was only realized because of the special efforts of a devoted team, both public and private. The entire family would like to thank Wendi Sofillas, Homecare Case Coordinator, for her support, and Esther Regier and Cathy Elias for their loving care. A special thanks to Dr. Holmes for her wisdom and guidance. Thanks to Deanne and Rosanne for keeping the cupboards full, to Linda Winning for keeping Marg’s home spotless, and to Morden’s pharmacies for their responsive service. A special and heart-felt thank you goes to Mother’s private caregivers for their devotion and tender care over the past 5 years. Mary Lilke, Brenda Rach, Anne Bergen, Gladys Booker, Cathy Kehler and Anne Fehr were an important part of Marg’s life.

A private family service will be held at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Interment will follow at Chapel Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Marg’s memory to the Parkinson Foundation of Manitoba Suite 302 171 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB R3C 1M4.
