It is with profound sadness that we announce that on the morning of Monday, November 22, 2010, Mary passed away peacefully at the age of 86 to join her beloved husband, Walter who left us only 7 short months ago. Mom was lost without him and we take great comfort in knowing that they are together once again. On December 23

rd, it would have been their 60th wedding anniversary and it would appear that they didn’t want to be apart for such a milestone.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Abraham and Margaret Hiebert (nee Hoeppner), her brother Abraham, her sister Tina and Mom and Dad’s daughter, Donna Lynne, who died in childbirth.

Mary leaves to mourn her children Tim, Deborah (John Sinclair) and Cheri (Greg Fenske), her grandchildren, Candice, Jaye, Noelle (Daniel Chartier), Ryan (Leslie), Max and Sam and great-grandchildren, Conner and Brooke.

Mom was born in a village near Winkler, Manitoba on January 10, 1924 and was one of nine children. Sara, Anne, John, Elma, Pete and Marge and each of their families were an important part of Mom’s life until the day she died. She loved them all so very much. She enjoyed hearing about each and every niece and nephew and what they were doing in their respective lives.

Marrying Walter in 1950, they lived in Morden for a number of years, relocating for short periods of time to Prince George, BC and Rivers, MB until finally settling in Winnipeg. Together, they raised three children and worked hard to support us all.

It is difficult to describe Mom in a few words for this notice. She was so much more than just a picture and words – she was the light and warmth in our family. Her hand could soothe away any worry and her words could ease the ache in your heart. Her sense of humor was hilarious and the love she had for her family was unending and unconditional.

We would like to thank so many people who helped us on Mom’s last day; to the paramedics, thank you for trying so very hard to revive her; to the police officers who sat with us, thank you for your kind words and compassion; to the medical examiner, Ms Heather Chapel, thank you for your compassion and gentleness which was so very comforting. And finally, to Rick Wiebe of Wiebe Funeral Home and his associates – you have made this horrendous journey so much easier to bear – thank you for taking such gentle care of Mom.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday November 27, 2010 at 10:30 a. m. at Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway in Winnipeg with interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery in Morden.

Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden in care of arrangements.
