Isaac G. Penner

1924 - 2009

penner isaac2.jpgPeacefully on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and brother-in-law, Mr. Isaac G. Penner at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 6 days went to be with his heavenly Father.

He was born to Martin and Katharina (nee Goertzen) Penner on December 20, 1924 in Chortitz, MB. He was married to Katherina Friesen on July 21, 1946. They were blessed with 3 daughters and 8 sons.

Our Dad was a very multi gifted man and had a brilliant mind. He was an electrician, a plumber, a carpenter, an agri-technician, a diesel mechanic, a cabinet maker, and an appliance repair man to name a few.

Dad was a man with strong spiritual convictions. He understood and accepted that it was the power of the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross of Calvary that paid the price for his sin. It was his earnest desire to see each of his large and extended family come to know Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. 2 Timothy 4:7& 8 could certainly be said by him........... "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." We will miss him but know that we sorrow not as those who have no hope.

Left to mourn his passing are 3 daughters, Laura Hoeppner, Helen and Bill Braun, Jeanne and Dan Fehr, and 8 sons, John and Erna, Ron and Dolores, Ken and Jean, Terry and Linda, Peter and Karen, Len and Claudia, Edwin and Deb, Tim and April as well as 33 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren. He is survived by 4 brothers, 8 brothers-in-law, and 16 sisters-in-law, as well as countless nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Tina in 2002, 1 son-in-law, Henry Hoeppner, 2 granddaughters in infancy; 6 brothers, 1 sister, 4 brothers-in-law and 5 sisters-in-law.

Funeral service was held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:00 am at Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church with interment at Winkler Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Isaac’s memory to the Salvation Army 203-290 Vaughan St. Winnipeg, MB R3B 2N8.
