1933 - 2009 

Herman HeideSQ.jpgPeacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2009 after a brief stay at the St. Boniface Hospital, Herman Heide aged 76 years, went to meet his Lord and Savior with his family by his side. 

Herman was born on February 18, 1933 to Jacob J. and Susanna (nee Dueck) Heide in the village of Hochfeld. He was the 8th child in a family of 12. On May 21st 1956 he was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Bishop Jacob Froese in the Old Colony Church in Blumenfeld. 

On October 2, 1960 Herman married Anna (nee Wieler) Heide. After spending 74 years of his life living in the village of Hochfeld, Herman along with his wife Anna moved to Winkler in November of 2007. Herman was a man of few words and he really loved and appreciated his family. He was proud of his grandchildren and was always the first at the door to welcome them in. He will be greatly missed. 

He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 49 years Anna, of Winkler, one son, Herman and his wife Tina of Winkler, one daughter, Maryanne and her husband John of Morden, four grandchildren Jonathan, Stacey, Purity and Trevor. As well as four sisters, Helen and Bishop John Wiebe of Hochfeld, Susan Klassen of Winkler, Tina and John Janzen of Morden, Margaret Elias of Winkler and six brothers, Jacob and Mary Heide of Winkler, John and Mary Heide of Winkler, Henry Heide of Winkler, George and Nettie Heide of Winkler, Frank and Ella Heide of Winkler, Peter and Sara Heide of Blumstein and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob J. Heide in 1977 and Susanna Heide in 1988, one sister, Agatha Friesen in 1999, three brothers-in-law, Henry W. Elias in 1999, Frank Friesen in 2002, David Klassen in 2008, two nephews and one niece. 

Funeral service was held on Wednesday November 25, 2009 at the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in Winkler. Interment followed at the Hochfeld Cemetery. 

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Boundary Trails and St. Boniface Hospitals for the great care Herman received, Rev. Art Wiebe and Rev. Jake Heide, family and friends for your prayers, visits, flowers, cards and food; Wiebe Funeral Home for their service, compassion and care in planning the funeral, the song leaders, organist, serving ladies, ushers, pallbearers, Living by Faith for the songs and everyone else who has taken time to make this day special in remembrance of our Dad. Thank you all very much.
