Helen Esther Halabicki (nee Peters)

November 21, 1952 – October 8, 2009

 

Helen Halebicki SQ.jpgOn Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Helen Halabicki, surrounded by her family, went to her eternal rest after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Helen was passionate about helping others, working as a nurse for nearly 30 years, volunteering for the Alzheimer and Cancer Societies, in her community, and traveling four times to Mississippi to help Hurricane Katrina victims. Helen loved gardening, camping, fry pies, Belgium bowling, yahtzee, and being with family and friends. 

She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband, Raymond of Darlingford; one daughter, Rae and Brendan Stemkoski of Morden; two sons, Rod and Virginia Halabicki of Darlingford and Robin and Paula Halabicki of Teulon; 3 ½ grandchildren Dylan and Corby Stemkoski and Sophie and baby-to-be Halabicki; her mother, Anna (nee Penner) Peters of Darlingford, two brothers, four sisters, and many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her father, Frank A. Peters in 1995. 

Memorial service was held on Tuesday October 13, 2009 at 1:00 at St. Paul’s United Church in Morden with ash interment at Chapel Cemetery and luncheon at the Darlingford Hall. 

Thank you to all the nurses and doctors at the Boundary Trails Health Centre for their wonderful care, and a special thank you to Dr. Bob Menzies and Nurse Cheryl Penner for their compassion, support, and amazing care throughout Helen’s battle with cancer. 

Helen asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care Box 2000 Winkler, MB R6W 1H8 or to South Central Cancer Care 2-160 Stephen Street Morden, MB R6M 1T3.
