Biggar, Edward Cecil

Edward Cecil Biggar

1930 – 2009

With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother and friend on December 9, 2009. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side. He was 79 years of age.

Ed was born on February 19, 1930 in Kaleida, MB. Ed married Doreen McElroy in April of 1953. They had four children whom they raised in Thornhill, MB, until moving to Morden where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Ed worked at a variety of jobs until settling into the painting and decorating business. He owned and operated Ed’s Painting & Decorating as well as the retail paint store, Ed’s Paint & Wallpaper in Morden. He and Doreen also were partners in the ownership and management of Riverside Villa in Morden. Eddie was a member of AA for the last 46 years and spent many hours sponsoring other people and their families. After Ed’s retirement, he and Doreen spent many hours at their trailer at Lake of the Woods. There they enjoyed boating and fishing with their family and friends. They spent many happy hours playing cards, golfing and simply driving around the country side.

With respect to our Father’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service at this time.

Eddie was predeceased earlier this year by his wife, Doreen, his parents, Cecil and Ella Biggar and his brother, Pat.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Debbie, Kary, Kathy and Alan, sons-in-law, Brian and Raymond, daughter-in-law, Karen and grandchildren, Corrina, Jenine, Andrew, Jason, Kristen, Brendan, Curtis and Shealyn. He is survived by his sisters, Helen and Marg, and brothers-in-law, Jack and Will, his brother, Wallace and sister-in-law, Del.

We would like to thank Dr Ann Loewen of Morris and Dr. John Jackson of Morden. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Morris Hospital whose compassion and caring made Dad’s last days more comfortable.

If you wish to make a donation in memory of Ed’s life, please send to the Morris General Hospital. Condolences may be forwarded through Wiebe Funeral Homes Ltd. Box 1116 Winkler, MB R6W 4B2.
